The day after school let out for the last time I was on a plane for Navy boot camp. All together I spent 24+ years in the military. I sailed both oceans, survived numerous storms at sea and in my personal life. I went into amateur rodeo in 1980 (didn't last long but got a great wife out of it). I taught firearms for most of my adult life and don't even own a personal weapon (Gave up all of my personal firearms after NRA switched from safety to politics). I don't generally believe that guns kill unless they are attached to a person that has no regard for life. I trust in God and I am very glad that he has a sense of humor, after all he created ME. The one aspiration I had in life was to be a stand-up comic. Unfortunately I was unable to qualify because I failed to meet the minimum height requirement to reach the microphone. Probably not a major lose to the world of entertainment anyway!!
Marriage was the last thing on my mind in 1980. I was 27 and happily single (somewhat). When I wasn't doing my Coast Guard duties I was a part-time rodeo cowboy (bareback bronc) and hitting the bars. One Saturday after a rodeo I went to the bar that sponsored us, asked a good looking girl to dance and life changed. She took one look at me, said "hell no, your to short", the owner heard this and told everyone what she said. In defense, after thinking for all of 30-45 seconds, I said "that's OK, I'm going to marry her". I looked like the biggest short fool you've ever seen. We have been married now for 33+ years.
Since my military career ended I worked in two nursing homes as a CNA, became a Medicare Specialist, worked in the hotel business for 4 years and i am now a qualified Para-transit bus driver.
I appear to be one of the few graduates of Waco High that didn't and never will support Donald Trump.
