From Mike Braun:
I had Mr. Lawhon for two years: Algebra 2 (1971-1972), Trig (Fall 1972) and College Algebra (Spring 1973).
He followed the textbook, but discussed and assigned lessons by individual concepts instead of tackling an entire chapter at once.
I enjoyed his teaching style, so I continued to take math because he taught the "upper level" courses.
He worked the same problems he assigned to the class in his spiral notebooks.
A great teacher -- very low key and mild mannered. His classes were juniors and seniors, but he never had a discipline problem.

I had Mr Lawhon for College Algebra, but I knew him outside of class as well. His wife was a real sweetheart and a professional seamtress. She made alot of the dresses I wore in my sophomore year. They were never able to have children and he considereed his students his kids. His interest in us was real and he really cared. I was able to challenge out of Algebra my first year of college and it was due to his attention and caring. He was a good man as well as a good teacher.
