In Memory

Agnes Talley (Teacher)

From Debbie Warren, Kathy Benson, Mike Braun:

Miss Agnes C. Talley, 89, passed peacefully from her earthly home on Nov. 22, 2012. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at Waco Memorial Park (cemetery) in the Mausoleum chapel, with the Rev. Curtis Holland officiating.

Miss Talley was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on Nov. 17, 1923, to G.W. and Annie Mauldlin Talley. She graduated from Texas Woman's University with a Bachelor's degree in Education and Texas Christian University with a Master's degree in Counseling. Miss Talley began teaching in Waco High School in 1958, later serving as Counselor. She retired with over 40 years of service.

Miss Talley was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and served as scholarship chairperson for many years. She was a member of the "Frog Club" and was recognized as an honorary Vice President. Miss Talley was an ardent supporter of her beloved "Horned Frogs". She also loved all animals, watching sports and most importantly, she was an avid fisherman at heart, spending many hours at Speegleville Marina with friends.

Miss Talley was preceded in death by her beloved parents, and she is survived by several close friends that became her family; her many dearly loved students whom she devoted her life to; and a thankful community that is grateful for her many years of service. She was loved, appreciated and will be missed.

I worked in the office all 3 years of high school. Miss Talley ALWAYS listened to the World Series on the radio and I got to sit and listen with her (even though I wasn't into the MLB at that time - it got me out of class..)  She really had a soft heart .
