In Memory

Lisa Allen (Duncan)

Lisa Allen (Duncan)

From Glen Raines:

I received the following from Lisa Allen Duncan's sister, Laurel, on Facebook. She asked me to post this for your information. My prayers go out to Lisa's family and may she rest in peace.

 From Laurel Allen Berryhill:

Glen, you were a friend of my sister, Lisa Duncan. I'm Laurel Allen Berryhill, Lisa's sister. I wanted you to know that Lisa passed away on Fri, May 10 from gallbladder cancer. It was very advanced and she only lived 3 months. She passed away peacefully at her daughters house. She was able to spend that time with her grand babies. She was cremated with no public service which was her request. I thought you should know since you were friends, I believe from the good old days in Waco. I knew a Greg Raines in my class, a few years behind Lisa. I believe he lived down the alley from us. Wasn't sure if you were related. But I wanted you to know about Lisa.

Followup Note from Laurel Allen Berryhill:

Just wanted to say how much I appreciate all the kind comments about my big sister, Lisa. Especially want to thank Glen Raines for his help getting it posted on WHS Class of 1971. Lisa enjoyed moving to the country at Riesel, but I think she would have loved finishing her Senior year at Waco High. I was four grades behind Lisa, but I remember so many of the names from class of '71 from Lisa and from the yearbook. It's really nice to see what's going on with her former classmates and very sad to learn of those that have passed away. I wish they had WHS class of '75 website; maybe I could find some of my former classmates. Thank you again for sharing your memories of Lisa and prayers and thoughts for our family.

From Lisa in 2011 when she requested to join the WHS71 website:

I didn't get to graduate with my class because we moved to Riesel my senior year but my fondest memories are of Brook Ave, West Jr. and Waco Hi.

So sorry to hear this about Lisa. We were good friends & we used to talk a lot. I agree she was always friendly & a little bashful.

It was really sad to hear about Lisa's death.

I remember her but I was the new kid in school and she left our senior year.

My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

Rest in peace Lisa.

I'm so saddened to hear of Lisa's passing.   I remember her from West Jr. (8th grade),  and of course Waco High.  Such a pretty person inside & out.   Though quite & shy...she always brightened any room she entered.  Another Tiger Classmate to be fondly remembered.

I was so sorry to hear about Lisa's passing.  She was a very dear friend in school and we had a lot of fun together.  Lisa will be missed very much and my heart goes out to her family and friends.

I went to school with Lisa from the time I moved to Waco when I was in the 8th grade until she left school. She was a quiet, shy person but so very nice. My prayers go out to her family and those of us who knew her better than others did. She will be missed greatly. Very happy for her that her last days were with her daughter and grandbabies.

Lisa was a close friend of Nancy Beatty Mullens and mine. Nancy also moved to Riesel where she reunited with Lisa. Through Nancy, Lisa and I were also reunited. As happens when families and careers come into play, I only saw Lisa a few times before she died but I continued to write on her Facebook page. It was hard to let go. Nancy discovered where Lisa was buried and she and I took lunch and sat with Lisa while we ate. We bought her a headstone and had her picture etched on it. If you'd like to visit her she is resting at the cemetery off of LaSalle. It felt right to spend time with Lisa.

Those of you who know Nancy probably are aware that she and the boys lost Steve last year...another victim of COVID. Please let us all keep them in our prayers.
