Jackie Byrd (Watson)

My heart was so saddened learning Betty had died. She had her health struggle's especially the last few years.

Betty was a great friend in high school. We continued talking by phone the last 10 years or so. We would talk most nights until 3am in the morning. She had such love for her children Rachel and Trey. And she adored her grandsons. Betty was a wonderful grandmother to the boys.
One memory I have with Betty & Claire was going to WHS boys baseball game our sophomore year. We got the wild idea to leave early & toilet paper the boys field house & their cars. Well we did a fantastic job papering, but we looked up and here comes the baseball team pulling up on Columbus St side. The game ended early! Our car was parked at the other entrance. When we saw the truck Clare & Betty ran took off in the car. They thought I got in as well. But I didn't, I was caught!!! and Coach wasn't happy. He said "Miss Byrd looks like you have a lot if cleaning up to do".Coach thought I did it by myself, He never saw the girls take off. I never told on them when I had to go see Miss Hamilton the next day. I took one for the team (my friends) told a lie I was alone!
Rest in peace sweet Betty, you are healed, and in the presence of your Savior Jesus Christ.
